The Northern Cardinal

While visiting my family in Ohio, I always enjoy bird watching from their porch.  I’m intrigued by the different varieties of birds that frequent their feeder.  Cardinals have been a long-time favorite bird of mine.  It was snowing, and against this white backdrop, they just looked amazing.  I became obsessed and waited outside in the freezing temperatures for one to land on a nearby tree.  I used my 70-200 mm lens for these shots, and used as low an ISO as possible.  Anticipating that I would still want to zoom in on these during post-processing, I wanted to preserve as much detail as possible.  Despite the cold temperatures, these were worth the effort.
